A word processor is a machine for producing documents.

Not for storing them — that is what folders are for — and not for calculating with them, which is a spreadsheet. Its one job is to let you write something, make it look right, and produce it again identically tomorrow. A letter, a CV, a report, a set of minutes, an invoice: all of them are the same tool used with different judgement.
