A presentation is a sequence of slides, shown one at a time to an audience — usually with someone talking while each one is on screen.

That's a different job from a document (Word Processing) or a worksheet (Spreadsheets): a slide isn't meant to be read in full silence, it's meant to support something being *said*. Everything about how a slide is built follows from that one fact.
